Riders Oppose Devastating DART Service Cuts and Fare Changes
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DALLAS, TX - JULY 7, 2025
The Dallas Area Transit Alliance (DATA) stands with the riders opposed to the largest service reduction in Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) history. These changes will especially burden paratransit riders, many of whom are on fixed income and cannot bear what will amount to a doubling of their fare. In addition to the gutting of paratransit, the service reductions will cut nine bus routes and reduce frequencies across all of DART’s modes — bus, light rail, and commuter rail. This amounts to more than a 14% decrease in service. This is all being done to fund a “general mobility program,” sending money to a handful of affluent member cities such as Plano, Carrollton, and the Park Cities, where it may be used for local street and road maintenance instead of providing service on our regional transit system.
DATA is asking for your support at the upcoming public hearing tomorrow, July 8th, 6:00 p.m., at DART headquarters located at 1401 Pacific Ave. in Dallas to speak out against these destructive cuts. DATA recommends speakers to arrive fifteen to thirty minutes prior to the start time to ensure that they are registered and to go through a brief security screening. Additionally, DATA representatives will be available to provide assistance or for any media inquiries.
