A new bill that targets DART has just been filed, read more in the latest article.
A new bill that targets Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has just been filed by Angela Paxton; this bill is the companion and identical to the committee substitute of House Bill 3187, which stalled out in the House due to running out of time being scheduled on the House Floor.
As of right now, the bill has only been received by the Texas Secretary of Senate and not referred to a committee. Dallas Area Transit Alliance (DATA) is closely monitoring at this moment. However, we’d like to emphasize that there are a lot of steps that must be taken before a hard deadline in the House Committees by the end of the day on the 24th.
At this time, we do not believe that the bill can make any extra movement given the deadlines. However, DATA has proactively launched a campaign to email your senators at our Action Network link. You can also call or email your senator during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
We believe the filing of the bill is symbolic and sets a precedent for filing a similar bill in the 90th Legislative Session in 2027. Since the bill failed in the 89th Legislative session. DATA will remain a clear advocate for a fully funded DART and for public transit accessibility to our riders.
